April Showers Bring May Flowers

Welcome to our very first blog post, we are so excited you are here! This cute DIY floral umbrella is inspired by the saying "April showers bring May flowers." It is super easy to make and is a perfect piece of spring decor to brighten up your mud room, entry way or to hang on your front door. You can get almost everything you need to make it right here at Hello Lois!

First, gather your materials. You will need:

• an umbrella with a long curved handle

• an assortment of floral stems you like, the amount of florals you need varies on their fullness

• a fake birds nest (real nests are likely to collapse)

• wire cutters

• twine or ribbon

Then, cut apart large floral stems into smaller pieces. Place them stem down into the closed umbrella, arranging them how you like.

We love to place floppy flower stems near the top so they hang out over the umbrella, like shown here with these white flowers.

Next, place your nest off center so it looks like it is resting on a bed of flowers.

Finally, tie a piece of ribbon or twine around the middle of the umbrella to tighten the umbrella and secure all the flower stems.
